Establish 13 qualifications ready for delivery through NBN by Semester 1, 2014;
Provide a suite of 12 taster programs that provide a value-added incentive for sign-up to the NBN made available to RSPs during Semester 2, 2013;
Increase the number of participants in training using NBN-enhanced online delivery equal to completion rates for all Hunter TAFE students;
Provide an ongoing high rate of completions in Full Qualifications/Units of Competency delivered using NBN-enhanced online delivery;
Provide a high rate of uptake of the Taster programs;
Provide a measurable rate of progressions from Tasters to Qualification enrolments;
Increase the number of businesses engaged in NBN-delivered training programs;
Establish continuous feedback systems around online training established – using online survey – supporting ongoing improvement of products and resources for NBN-enhanced training delivery; and
Up-scaling: plan to roll out more broadly to learners across NSW and Australia in 2015.
Project Scope
The Digital Learning Project includes development of 13 nationally accredited courses and skill sets that have been selected as a result of research into the needs of learners and skills shortage areas on the Central Coast area. These 13 courses and skill sets are listed on the Project Deliverables page, and will be offered through an innovative web-based learning environment which is a virtual college known as a personal learning environment (PLE).
The PLE is fully customisable by the learner and learners will have the option of accepting full teacher support through mentoring, delivery of content and assistance to make sense of their learning. The PLE will also have learner tracking systems (known as learner analytics), a presence feature to connect learners and teachers in the cloud and diagnostic testing for language, literacy and numeracy support. Please explore more information on the PLE on the PLE & DLP iTAFE Technologies pages.
The Digital Learning Project will also produce a suite of twelve taster modules, free online modules, information kits and support structures for disabled learners. Taster modules are free. They will showcase the features of the high speed broadband in a digital learning environment but will have the added benefit of offering free recognition into a full qualification mapped to the content.
The PLE takes full advantage of the high speed broadband by being the launch pad for high definition video and streaming video, high definition video and web conferencing and high quality resources requiring fast download speeds. Five hundred and seventy six (576) of these resources will be developed as part of the project.
